DAF 33 £790
The belt-driven baby that launched a successful new make on world markets. Still in demand after fourteen years, it features a flat-twin air-cooled engine and the infinitely variable automatic transmission that makes DAF cars unique. Built by a Dutch family concern that also makes heavy trucks and military vehicles this is a well-proven economy model, easy to drive and to park.
DAF 55 Coupé £1,110
The image of the DAF as a quaint Dutch economy car was jolted when the 55 Coupé appeared, with its Renault engine, later uprated to surprising performance in the Marathon version. Now the 55 is joined by the 66 with new styling, de Dion rear axle and a completely redesigned version of the famous belt-drive automatic transmission which DAF owners receive at no extra cost.
DAF 66 £1,198
New top model re-styled with more modern front and improved interior. Modifications to the Renault 1100 engine produce 2 b.h.p. more than on the 55. Transmission is now via automatic centrifugal clutch to a de Dion axle on half-elliptic springs. There is one central reduction gear and a differential instead of separate gears for each wheel.
