Triumph 1956

TR3 (R4 cyl, 1991 cc, 95/100 bhp)

Great Britain

Triumph TR3 Sports is more powerful successor to the 1953-55 TR2. It have larger twin carburettors which increased the power output from 90 to 95 bhp; it was later increased to 100 bhp, following cylinder head modifications. Externally it is distinguishable from the TR2 by a honeycomb grille over the air intake, and scuttle vents. An occasional rear seat is available.

In its latest form the 2-litre Triumph TR3 adds weight to the view that racing improves the breed. After trying disc brakes on the front wheels in the Le Mans 24-hour race, the TR3 now appears in production with this type of braking system of Girling manufacture. The opportunity has been taken at the same time of increasing the ratio of braking at the front end as compared with the rear.
(London report)

TR3 został wyposażony w hamulce tarczowe. Jest to pierwsze tego typu rozwiązanie zastosowane w produkcji seryjnej.
