Amilcar zasłynął w latach dwudziestych wygrywając wiele zawodów sportowych i budując małe, względnie tanie samochody dla entuzjastów. Obecnie firma należy do konsorcjum finansowego Sofia (Société financière pour l'automobile).
Amilcar became famous in the twenties by winning many sports competitions and building small, relatively inexpensive cars for enthusiasts. Today, the company belongs to financial consortium Sofia (Société financière pour l'automobile).
Pégase is a great car but unfortunately it is too expensive and not sustainable for the company to survive. The best solution would be to develop a new, smaller model that would bring the brand back to its roots.
The owner of the majority of shares in Sofia is Hotchkiss, who had just started work on a new, smaller 5 CV model. The negotiations on the merger of both companies started.
Exhibited at the show in Paris model Pégase for 1937 has revised styling and will be available only in four versions: saloon Saint-Hubert, coupe Amazone, convertible Fleuret and roadster Skiff. As before they are powered by a Delahaye engine. In addition, there is also a high-performance model with a larger 2.5 litre engine Amilcar Grillot.
