AUDI 100 LS & GL

Two versions of this extremely well-finished German car, offering different degrees of luxury to suit your taste and pocket (or both!). The Audi comes from the big VW group and is in the top bracket of their offerings. It has front-wheel-drive from a water-cooled 1760 c.c. engine in the LS and 1871 c.c. in the new GL. Both are good for well over the ton. Roadholding is of a high order, with coil spring suspension at the front and torsion bar at the rear, and the interior is beautifully finished with extremely comfortable seats and quality fittings - all at a competitive price.

Not quite the newcomer that it may seem, but it is still only a couple of years old and at last it is available in right hand drive form. The sleek body shape is attractive and yet practical, for in this fastback there is ample room for four adults, and the boot is large. Power comes from an 1871 c.c. engine that develops 115 eager b.h.p. and gives the Coupé a matching top speed. Drive is through the front wheels of course, like the saloons on which the Coupé is based. It also shares the traditional German finish and high standard of luxury. Something of a thoroughbred, really.
