France

The C4 received the new "floating engine" in spring, but just six months later it was replaced by the all new 8, 10 and 15 CV. "Safety, Solidity, Elegance" is the slogan for the new range, officially introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October. Lower, longer and smoother than predecessors, the new cars sports all-steel, one-piece, extremely rigid bodies, a technology that André Citroën bought from America at great financial expense.
The principle of the "floating engine" concerns the fixing of the cylinder block, being suspended at only two points, which allows it to oscillate slightly around a longitudinal axis passing through the centre of gravity. As a result, the engine is constantly in equilibrium and the system - essentially consisting of two carefully calculated rubber supports - absorbs all the vibrations.

C 6

C6 G (6 cyl., 2650 cm³, mocy 50 KM)

Like the Citroën 4 cylinders, the 6 cylinders evolved for this year and the C6 F becomes C6 G since the Paris Salon in October 1931. It inherited the 2.65 litre engine (75 x 100 mm) launched the previous year on the C6 "CGL" but with improved cooling by a new high-flow water pump. As on the 4 cylinders, the carburettor received a choke facilitating cold starts, and the brake booster disappeared in favour of self-tightening brakes. Regarding the external presentation, the C6 G remains very similar to the previous C6 "CGL", although their price is significantly lower. Only the bumpers differ from the 1931 C6 "CGL"; these are square section “Chromos”, single at the front and double at the rear. The C6 Gs are available with the same bodywork as the C4 G, except the commercial ones, to which are added four luxury models: coupé de ville, coupé landaulet, coupé conduite intérieure and conduite intérieure landaulet; for a total of 14 factory bodies. On the other hand, Citroën incorporates into its C6 G range three special versions with exterior bodywork: a berline “Toutalu” produced by Million-Guiet (Vizcaya patent) and coaches, fixed or convertible roof, bodied by Sical (Société Industrielle de Carrosserie Automobile de Leuallois). The prices of all these C6 G range from 30,500 F to 42,500 F; wheelbases from 295 to 312 cm.
Like the Citroën C4 G, from April 11 the C6 G takes advantage of the “Floating Engine”. Soon the manufacturer begins to prune a little their extensive range of bodies. From 17 on the C6 G, the number of models available on the C6 G MFP fell to 13: berline 4 glaces, conduite intérieure 6 glaces, familiale, torpédo avec malle, torpédo familial, roadster, cabriolet 2 places, coupé 2 places, coach 4 places (called "faux-cabriolet"), berline Toutalu, coach Sical, cabriolet Sical and coupé de ville, the latter, sold at 43,500 F, being the most expensive of this family. The bodies of the C6 G berlines and conduites intérieures are unified as on the C4 G, that is to say that they now have a roof and doors of the same dimensions. No exterior sign distinguishes the C6 G MFP, except for the swan on the right rear wing.

All bodies are all-steel welded using the new technology except for Sical coaches with traditional wood and sheet construction. The chassis in fully welded and is five times stronger than a C4 chassis, while weighing 60 kg less.
the 10 CV engine comes from the C4 with modifications to combustion chambers, intake and exhaust passes, allowing higher output. The smaller unit has bore reduced from 75 to 68 mm. The 15 CV is exactly the same as the 10, with two additional cylinders. All models has 3-speed gearboxes with top to silent synchromesh Additionally the 10 and 15 are equipped with fuel saving free-wheel device.
The suspension is carried by four leafsprings with hydraulic shock absorbers. Braking relies on four self-tightening Bendix drums controlled by cables.
10 and 15 Légère added after the Paris Show in October. At the same time chevrons on the grille appeared.
