FERRARI GTB4 DAYTONA BERLINETTA £9,167 (incl. P.T.)
This magnificent front-engined thoroughbred is powered by a 'road' version of the famous V12 sports/racing engine from the Maranello marque. With four overhead camshafts and 12 cylinders, the 352 b.h.p. motor will blast the pretty coupe (berlinetta means 'little saloon') to more than 160 m.p.h. The aerodynamic bodywork was designed by Pininfarina but is built by Scaglietti, a coachbuilder who is situated close to the Ferrari works. Undoubtedly one of the world's most desirable cars, the Daytona is available with left or right-hand drive. Suspension is self-levelling at the rear.

Put together in just three months at the end of 1969 by a team headed by Mauro Forghieri, the 512 S mounts an all-alloy V12 of almost five litres with four valves per cylinder and Lucas fuel injection. The tubular spaceframe is developed from the P4 and the 612, while the bodywork is designed by Giacomo Caliri and made from polycarbonate for light weight.
The FIA regulations require that twenty five examples of the model had to be built to achieve homologation, and in January 1970 Ferrari presented the requisite number of cars to FIA officials in Maranello for inspection.
