Super Minx powstawał jako następca starzejącego się Minxa. Niemal w ostatniej chwili Minx Series IV stał się modelem Super Minx. Układ napędowy pochodzi z dotychczasowego modelu ale poza tym wszystko jest nowe. Rozstaw osi zwiększono do 101 in (2565 mm).

Hillman Minx Series IIIB. Improvements over the IIIA, announced in the summer of 1960, include hypoid rear axle replacing spiral bevel, improved air filter, larger oil pump and modified front seat squab. Available in saloon de luxe, convertible and estate car versions, and as a standard saloon to replace the earlier saloon special. In July it was replaced by the Series IIIC with a bigger 53bhp/1592cc engine now called "Minx 1600".
In October Hillman introduced a new deluxe variant of its popular Minx model, the Super Minx. The Super Minx is based around the same mechanical items as the standard car, this mean a 1592cc four cylinder engine coupled with a four speed manual gearbox. The main difference between the Minx and Super Minx is the bodywork. The new car have a much larger and more modern body design which have a distinctive full width grille and headlamps "capped" by unusual semi-circular side/indicator lamps. The Super Minx has lots of chrome trim and feature a spacious, more luxurious interior. Wheelbase is 5" longer and body styling different with headlamp hoods incorporating sidelamps, wraparound front and rear screens and rear tail fins. Engine is 57bhp giving 80 mph.
