Hispano Suiza


One of the most notable features of the H6 is its brakes. They are light-alloy drums on all four wheels with power-assist, driven with a special shaft from the transmission. When the car is decelerating, its own momentum drive the brake servo to provide additional power.

Hispano Suiza survived the depression years remarkably well thanks to the production of the famous airplane engines. They purchased French Ballot company in 1930. The first child of this marriage is the Ballot-Hispano HS26 first shown in October at the Paris Motor Show. This new model combine modified eight-cylinder Ballot HR 3 chassis and Hispano six cylinder engine from Spain built T64.

Motor Sport; Sports Models for 1931 October 1930

No change has been made in the Hispano-Suiza range for next year, and the two sports models will be retained. These two are the same in general design, with the exception of the chassis length. The engine is a 45 h.p. six cylinder with O.H.V. operated by a single overhead chain-driven camshaft. The cylinder block is of aluminium and steel liners are inserted. Dual coil-and-battery ignition is incorporated in the design. The crankshaft is carried on seven large plain bearings, and profiting by their extensive aero engine experience, the makers have used Nitralloy steel extensively in the construction of the power unit. The chassis price of both long and short models is £1,950.
