Summer: A decree by the "Plenipotentiary for Motor Transport" results in Daimler-Benz's capacity to produce vehicles for the military being considerably reduced in favor of other, higher priority, products. Now only 1,610 1.7 liter cars, 50 3.4 liter cars and 270 3 ton trucks may be produced per quarter.

The 230 (W 143) was produced alongside the new W 153 as six-seater Pullman-Limousine, Pullman-Landaulet and Tourenwagen until March. 17,374 units were built at the Untertürkheim plant between February 1936 and March 1941, 1 950 vehicles were produced at the Mannheim plant in the period from May 1936 to June 1937.
